· Identify the health and safety requirements for welding operations

· Carry out a risk assessment 

· Understand the legislative requirements of Arc (MMA) or MIG (MAGS) welding and fume control

· Prepare metal for welding

· Set up and operate a welding set for MIG (MAGS) or Arc (MMA) welding

· Weld metal in the flat (downhand) and horizontal vertical positions

· Select appropriate safety equipment and clothing for the tasks performed

· Operate welding equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
